8 Reasons You May Feel Tired All the Time
Occasional tiredness is normal, but persistent fatigue can have many causes. It is not always a lack of willpower. Common contributors include sleep problems, stress, nutrition and medical conditions.
- Not enough sleep. Irregular hours, late screens or an uncomfortable environment can reduce recovery.
- Iron or other nutrient deficiency. A varied diet matters; testing is better than guessing or taking supplements blindly.
- Dehydration. Low fluid intake can worsen headaches and concentration.
- Too little movement. Gentle regular activity can improve energy even when motivation is low.
- High stress. Constant mental alertness is exhausting.
- Low mood or anxiety. Emotional strain often appears as physical fatigue.
- Sleep apnoea or another sleep disorder. Loud snoring, gasping or morning headaches deserve medical review.
- An underlying condition or medication effect. Thyroid problems, diabetes and other conditions can cause fatigue.
If fatigue lasts more than a few weeks, is getting worse or comes with weight change, breathlessness, pain or weakness, arrange a medical assessment.
